Suz,

Just curious, have you ever met someone who has had an abortion?

ok, what do you think her reaction would be if she saw you wearing the shirt? What would you want her reaction to be?

well the point of it is not for people who have had abortions exactly, the fact is that with abortion any way you look at it you are taking a life, and so many people just blow it off like it's not a big deal (especially here at school) the point is to show that it is a big deal, I didn't think about someones reaction to it who has had one because it is not that person I had in mind when I bought it. I would hope that it would bother people, it's something worth being bothered about. From what I understand, I have never known or heard of a person who has gotten an abortion and been happy with the decision.

I would agree that most, if not all, people who get an abortion are not happy with the decision. Some are not happy and would not have the abortion if they had it to do over again. Others are not happy, but, would make the same decision if they had it to do over again. I think it is a difficult decision.

Any way I look at it, killing someone in a war is still taking a life... and don't get me started on Old Testament killings. These are difficult questions for me. Perhaps there are T-shirts out there promoting adoption (and peace)?

At any rate, it is encouraging to see that you are researching topics and making your own decisions on the positions you will advocate. Some will agree with you, others will disagree.

By the way, I am willing to bet that you know more than one person who has had an abortion (It may just be that you don't know they had an abortion). Sometimes the most difficult person to forgive is ourselves. Live your life and enjoy school... you are a front-runner for a scholarship next semester.

That is a very thought provoking shirt. I think that they(lawmakers, doctors, others) would think of it differently if such was the case. The person in the crisis only looks at the immeadiate problem in their life.

I've thought more about the shirt, and I would be willing to bet that the only people who will really consider its intended implications are other Christians who are not going to have abortions anyway. Many times I have found that the US American Christian subculture's stabs at flash philosophy (bumper stickers, shirts, billboards) are actually counter-productive. Truth is, in its bigger scope, rarely a simple matter. The answer to dissuading abortions is to be Christ to those who would have them. Not that you're not doing that, but I really don't think the shirt is likely to promote any real lifestyle changes in the lost.

What John said was what I was getting at when I asked the first question. That in no way means you shouldn't wear the shirt(not that I thought you wouldn't),it just means that God has us ministering to people in different ways according to where they are in their journey. Even if they don't realize they are on a spiritual journey.
